The speed of human movement and communication on earth is unparalleled and increasing while technical capabilities in the information age have charged the very air space around us, projecting objects, images and sounds which circle the globe and penetrate the cosmos. A sense of 'disempowerment' and of being 'disempowered' as an individual in society is undeniably evident. How to be a responsible and affective member of the human race, in the local and global environments is difficult to contemplate and act upon. The paintings in this exhibition reference personal experience and the human condition as a focus. Since the mid 1960's my solo exhibitions of oil paintings have worked in series around specific ideas and this show is a continuation of that format.
